Social Bookmarking For Web Traffic

Monday, October 26th, 2009

bookmarking demonSocial bookmarking is an excellent way to drive traffic to your websites. It’s also a very underused method as many people just don’t realize how helpful it can be to them. You can use social bookmarking through sites like:

• Digg

• Reddit

• Propellar

• StumbleUpon

• Delicioius

• And more

These sites are designed to help you share websites with friends and other people online who might like the same sites you like. They work differently but with the same main idea in mind, to get more people to websites.

Some people might choose to bookmark a special story or interesting article they read while others may use it to share their favorite bookmarks with a friend. It’s also a great place to go online when you want to find more sites that have content you’re looking for.

This is why you can learn to leverage social bookmarking for web traffic to help you get more traffic and better ranking. How do you get better ranking with this? Well Google ranks sites according to how important they appear and how relevant to their keywords. When you get bookmarked on these social networking sites, it increases the value of your website. It can show the search engines that your site is relevant and that other people are willing to recommend it as so.

When using social bookmarking for web traffic, it’s important to learn the rules and regulations of each site and to follow them correctly. Always avoid spam and breaking the rules or you can end up banned or blocked from the site. Use engaging headlines and links directly to the webpage or story you’re trying to market and you will be good to go.

Social Bookmarking, Bookmarking Demon and Young Blogs – Get Noticed!

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

bookmarking demonI am a blogger who mainly deals with SEO and Link Building. One of the questions that I am often asked is how to improve a site’s search engine rankings. I answer that the best way is to build up one way links naturally from sites with high page ranks. Well, not everybody is capable of doing so. So what is a struggling young blog supposed to do in order to attract initial traffic that can start your blogging community?

This is where social bookmarking comes in. These backlinks can provide for you the starting traffic that you need in order to gain awareness from your blog. Start becoming active on social networking sites, and you’ll be noticed. Comment on the submissions of those bloggers in the same niche as your own, and they will appreciate your attention. Just like blog commenting is important, commenting on the posts of fellow bloggers on social bookmarking sites is also a nice tip.

I use Sphinn, Delicious, Twitter, Digg, StumbleUpon, and Propeller for traffic. Over 35 percent of all of my main blog’s traffic is from social bookmarking sites. I now have 100s of followers on various sites and this led to a nice increase in my organic search engine rankings. The backlinks from the social bookmarking sites really helped my blog grow.

In the beginning of any blog, your first focus should be content. After a few weeks of decent content, then you can start going onto trying to get traffic. You must get noticed. Social Bookmarking does depend somewhat on luck, and you are not guaranteed by any means. But if your blog becomes a keeper, then you will have made a huge imprint on your niche.

Social bookmarking is huge when it comes to blog exposure and I think it ranks right behind blog commenting in terms of valuable backlinks to a growing blog. Your blog can go viral on social bookmarking sites – it’s just a powerful opportunity.

There are 100s of social bookmarking sites out there and all you need for your blog to take off is for it to catch on to one of them. For me, it was Twitter, and I receive 2000 hits to one of my better posts in 24 hours after it caught on at Twitter. Many of these hits became future readers of mine, and they are readers who contribute by writing comments, and by linking to me from other social networking sites. Moreover, they subscribe to my blog and become long time readers. This isn’t everyone, but it’s enough that it made a big difference. Linkers Blog became PR 3 in just one month because of this!

So how do you know which social bookmarking site to submit to?

Well, you don’t. You never know which social bookmarking site is your future gold mine. So you should submit to all of them. Well, you might ask, that will take days! Well, there is software that will do it for your automatically. It costs $147 and is called Bookmarking Demon. For many people, this becomes their lifesaver as it saves them hours of submitting each individual blog post. I’m a fan, but I will warn you in advance that it’s not for everyone. It’s worth it for me because I try to post on several niche blogs everyday which bring in income. If you’re not already pulling in money, I might not bother with it.

Bookmarking Demon Review

bookmarking demonIf you own a website, you understand the importance of driving traffic to it. There are really two ways to drive traffic to a site: free or paid. Free traffic is by far my favorite. One way to get more organic traffic is by getting more links to your website. The more links you have from authority sites, the more traffic you can get, and the better your search engine ranking will be. Taking advantage of social bookmarking sites is one of the best ways to get links to your site. And if you have real good content on your website, you can go viral fast.

The key to success on Web 2.0 sites is:

Great content: if you don’t have content that people want to bookmark and come back to in a future date, you are just wasting your time. Do yourself a favor and work on your content before putting all your hopes on social bookmarking sites.
Unique Anchor Text: you don’t want to submit your links to all social bookmarking sites with the same anchor text. You can make it worth your while by switching anchor texts around to get ranked for more terms.
Avoid Spam: one thing you don’t want to do is spam social networking sites. It not only looks bad, it could get you banned too. Don’t go crazy on these sites. And don’t forget that you want to be a part of the community and provide value to others. One way to do that is to submit other people’s sites as well.

Bookmarking Demon is a software package that allows you to address the technical side of things. You can define multiple anchor texts and description texts and submit them in random to the sites that you choose. The process is automated, which means you don’t have to do much to submit your pages to top Web 2.0 sites on the Internet. The software also keeps you informed about what you have done on each service to help you avoid spamming these websites. If you are looking for a hybrid outsourcing solution that helps you gain links automatically and gives you more control over the process, Bookmarking Demon is worth considering.
